Charrington, moved in and, according to the officer, 'practically' trod on four sleeping people who were in a rough and temporary shelter.' The four jumped up and ran, but the Suffolks killed two of them and a third ran into the guns of the police and was killed. Only one got away. One of the dead was a woman.
